Roles and Responsibilities of an Assistant Security Officer

Assistant security officers are vital to the smooth running of an organization’s day-to-day business, ensuring compliance, administering first aid, and serving as a visible deterrent to theft, violence, or illegal entry. However, let us move on to the key roles and responsibilities of an assistant security officer:

  • Make rounds, review the CCTV, check for potential dangers (fire and safety), and review the security systems.
  • Verify ID, check visitors/vendors, deal with key cards, and make sure authorized employees are allowed entry.
  • React to alarms, emergencies, and suspicious activity by providing initial response (such as first aid) and reporting incidents.
  • Maintain a record of your daily activity, including incidents, property damage, or unauthorized persons.
  • Help in implementing security policies, enforcing security rules, and engaging in security training programs.
  • Coordinate with other company departments, the police, and/or outside agencies, if necessary.
  • Support senior officers, do office work, maintain security records, and assist with office duties.
